It’s also a good idea to have a small amount of emergency cash, a flashlight, a blanket, water bottles, energy bars, a multitool or knife, gloves, extra batteries, duct tape, hand sanitiser and a first-aid kit in the car. If there is enough room in the trunk, you can also include an empty petrol can for unexpected situations.
Your teen should also have a car jack and associated tools in the trunk, and know how to change a tire in case of a flat.

In the event of an accident or emergency, your teen’s emergency medical information should be easily accessible. This information should be kept in both their wallet and in the glovebox. This way, emergency personnel can quickly find the information they need in case of an emergency.

Finally, your teen should have a roadmap in the car in case their smartphone dies or if they are traveling to an unfamiliar area. A pen and paper should also be kept in the car for writing down directions or taking notes.
